Loomis is a certified Karlakattai coach (Kshathiriyi) studying under 7th-Generation Grand Master (Asan) Jothi Senthil Kannan, author of the book Karlakattai, Ancient Warrior Practice, and founder of the International Karlakattai Sports Federation. Asan Jothi Senthil Kannan is the pre-eminent Kshaktiriya Guru who is protecting, preserving, and reviving the lineage and arts of this ancient tradition. Each Karlai (wooden club) and Gada (mace) at Kala Shala is meticulously hand-fabricated using endemic species of wood that contain particular medicinal properties.
